Meet Hazel – Introducing our latest team member

I am thrilled to introduce myself as the newest member of the Capital Asset Management team.

My name is Hazel Scarff, and I am a Chartered Financial Planner. As I embark on this new journey, I wanted to share a bit about my background, professional experience, and what inspired me to join Capital.

While I understood the importance of money from an early age, my interest in working with it truly came in my early twenties. My parents’ divorce starkly revealed the financial confidence gap in our family. While my father navigated finances with ease, my mother struggled.

‘Struggled’ is possibly a polite way of putting it; she was terrified. Having to re-plan your entire future is scary enough without having to figure out what a Pension Sharing Order is! Witnessing her vulnerability inspired me to demystify the financial industry and empower others facing similar challenges. My goal is to make financial planning accessible and reassuring, ensuring no one faces their financial future with fear or uncertainty.

Interestingly, I wasn’t always set on a career in finance. I studied History at university, fascinated by how the past can shape the future. After graduation, like many students, I took a break and worked in several bars and restaurants around Edinburgh and Glasgow. These experiences ignited my passion for working with people, although I soon realised that late-night shifts weren’t for me!

I began my financial services career in Glasgow as an administrator for a small local firm. Shortly after I joined, the firm was sold to Succession Wealth Management, a large independent financial services firm. I completed my exams to achieve my Chartered qualification, working first as a Paraplanner and then as an adviser.

Over my six years at Succession, I gained invaluable experience working with a diverse clientele, helping them navigate their financial journeys and achieve their goals. Then, in a bold quest for career advancement (and to finally master the art of using the Tube without looking like a lost tourist), I packed my bags and moved to London last year!

Joining Capital is an exciting new chapter for me. I admire their focus and determination to provide real client-focused service.Capital’s commitment to personalised financial planning aligns perfectly with my own values and approach to financial planning. Here, I see an opportunity to leverage my skills and experience to make a meaningful impact on our clients’ financial well-being.

When I’m not busy with work, you’ll find me exploring the great outdoors with my lively dog, Ziggy, alongside my partner Chelsea. I love hanging out with family and friends, visiting local art galleries, or catching live music gigs.

I am excited to bring my passion for financial planning to Capital and to work alongside such a talented team. I look forward to meeting you soon.
